#INSTALL ERROR 1603 WINDOWS 10 GPO INSTALL#
The Redstone 1607 installer will run and install successfully. I did this manually by executing Windows10Upgrade28084.exe provided by Microsoft.
#INSTALL ERROR 1603 WINDOWS 10 GPO UPDATE#
Initiate the update to Windows 10 Redstone 1607. Reboot again and you'll be in Windows 10. You are going to get a scary error message about Error code 0xc0000034.įix the Error code 0xc0000034 by booting from your Windows 10 media, entering the console, and using the following commands: Use the diskpart.exe tool to clean all partitions on the second (HDD) drive. SERIOUSLY, DON'T PROCEED FURTHER UNTIL YOU HAVE A WORKING WINDOWS 10 BOOT MEDIA. (I couldn't get the Microsoft tool to work for some reason, but the Rufus tool was a snap.)
If you don't already have a Windows 10 install DVD or USB drive, go ahead and make one using either the Microsoft MediaCreationTool.exe or the "Rufus" tool. But I have a notebook PC and it's just too inconvenient to be making physical modifications inside.īack up everything on the HDD because this procedure destroys the entire contents. One approach I could have taken is to just open the PC and disconnect the power and data from the second drive. But the second (HDD) drive also has a UEFI partition since the HDD was factory-shipped with the PC, and I then installed the SSD and cloned the HDD onto it. My PC has 2 drives with Windows booting off the first (SSD) drive. Doing this procedure incorrectly will definitely cause big problems for you! If you don't know what you are doing, you will probably fork up your PC in a large way. THIS PROCEDURE REQUIRES ADVANCED COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE.
#INSTALL ERROR 1603 WINDOWS 10 GPO PATCH#
This has got to be one of the worst and most incompetent major patch rollouts I have seen in 20 years.įor anyone interested, here is the procedure I followed. I have been involved in computers / IT since the 1990s and I seriously have to say this is a perfect example of why Microsoft is perceived to make some inferior products that seem to break for the stupidest random reasons, and you can't fix without some arcane PC technical knowledge. OK, I had the same problem due to multiple UEFI partitions and was able to finally get the Redstone 1607 installer working after trolling through those Google+ posts.
